Etsy and Amazon to Host Spring Sales Events Funded by Sellers

Etsy and Amazon will be hosting spring sales to promote seasonal items. However, it’s up to sellers to fund discounts to buyers in the hopes that the marketplaces will feature their items during the sales events. Etsy informed sellers through an announcement on the Seller Announcement board with the dates of three upcoming sales:

Etsy Spring Refresh, March 11—April 15 will feature categories including Home Improvement, Outdoor & Garden, Seasonal Home Furnishings.

Etsy Mother’s Day, April 1—May 12 will feature categories such as Home & Garden Decor, Jewelry, Clothing, Cards, Wrapping, Floral. (Sellers must opt in by March 5 for a chance to be featured in Etsy marketing.)

Etsy Father’s Day, May 13—June 16 will feature categories such as Clothing, Wall Decor and Prints, Drink & Barware, Accessories, Greeting Cards. (Sellers must opt in by April 1 for a chance to be featured in Etsy marketing.)

Amazon also appears to be holding its annual spring sale in Europe the week of March 18th. An EcommerceBytes reader who was invited to participate sent us the following information:

“Amazon is now accepting deal submissions for our 2024 March sale.
“Submit your recommended deals by selecting “Mon, Mar 18 – Mar 24” for a chance to participate in the sale.

“The 2024 March sale will focus on Outdoor & Garden, Home, Beauty & Fashion, Pets, Travel, and other seasonally relevant categories. The sale will have a dedicated landing page and will be promoted through paid media and merchandize placements on Amazon.com.”

Prime Day is bound to follow not long after. Amazon keeps a tight lid on the dates of its Prime Day sales events. Last year it held Amazon Prime Day on July 11 – 12, 2023 and held its Prime Big Deal Days on October 10 – 11, 2023.

eBay is likely to run sales promotions as well, but it generally limits sales to items from a tiny number of vetted brands and merchants.
